Lost all Keyboard & Mouse access

I just set up a new QubesOS, took me a week to set up & got it all almost perfect then i messed it up, i went to the sys-usb - SETTINGS - DEVICES then i took one of the pci controllers from the list in the left and sent it over to the right column and ever since i lost all control function to the keyboard, ext mouse, trackpad, everything and i dont know how to fix that now?

Please can someone tell me how to sort this issue out?

Hi @betty

How did you add the bad PCI device? If your kb/mouse are on usb, then normally it is not possible to change PCI assignments when the qube is running.

It may be enough to follow the Autostart troubleshooting instructions, like this:

  1. Press the E key on the first prompt (or your custom prompt). It may say “Select operating system”.
  2. Then, press the down arrow key multiple times to reach the line starting with module2 /vmlinuz
  3. Use the right arrow to go to the end of the line, which might be off the screen.
  4. add a space and then qubes.skip_autostart at the end of the line
  5. Press Ctrl-x or F10 to boot
  6. The sys-usb qube will not start automatically, so you should be able to log in and remove the device - put it back to left side - to fix the problem.

When you reboot, the autostart will be as before.

If you cannot log in, then there may be other things to fix. Give an exact description of what you did and what you see.
