Logical Volume "vm-sys-<vm-name>-root-snap" already exists in volume group "qubes_dom0"

My sys-usb and sys-net machines aren’t booting, and when I try a manual restart I get the error in the title.

I know there’s a thread about this on GitHub, and would post there, but I don’t have an account and really don’t want one.

It appears that vm-sys-net-volatile, vm-sys-usb-volatile, and vm-sys-net-root-snap are all a problem. The lvremove failed on vm-sys-net-volatile, I didn’t try the other two.

I’m on release 4.2.4 (R4.2), per the Dom0 About dialog box

Providing the link and the output of the commands you tried could be helpful :slight_smile:

It would be helpful if you said in what way the use of lvremove
failed.

Look in /dev/qubes_dom0/ and see if vm-sys-net-volatile and
vm-sys-net-root-snap exist there.

I never presume to speak for the Qubes team. When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.

They do exist there.

I’ll post more details in the thread.

@unman the failed lvremove commands are the last two in the image

@unman can’t see your image

You dont wan’t to remove vm-<QUBE_NAME>-private volumes!

The output is telling you to remove vm-vault-private-snap first. But I’m not confident enough in my abilities to tell you to do that!
