I was able to write to the charge_st* files for each of the batteries on my T430s when I tried, a month or two ago. Power management has been working as expected since then. My system doesn’t have either of the charge_control_* files.
Good work @barto. Not sure if this will be of use to anyone, but I use a docked setup while working at my office (USB connections, constant AC power, etc.) and take that laptop (T480) while traveling. I wrote the below script to toggle between an office mode and a travel mode that I hope might guide others with their setups.
