Is it possible to boot a live os inside a qube like tailsos

This is pretty important because these usbs are most likely compromised and if i boot them on top of my qubes there is a chance they compromise my machine. I need qubes virtualization to be safe. But when i try to boot from the usb through the official way in the advanced settings from the qube it says no bootable drive found.

Not possible in the way you want to do this! It’s possible to install a fresh TailsOS in a qube, but even with some restrictions, which probably won’t satisfy you!

Why don’t you grab an empty machine (yes you first need to find one) and start Tails from there?

Because i use most of these tails usbs for all kinds of stuff like recovery, forensics etc. Most are compromised and if i dont want to infect the empty machine. I was hoping for a way to use tails usb on a qube for virtualization security and convenience. Thank you for your awnser though.

I have been working on something similar to putting a Live version of a USB as an installed version of a live distro installed onto hard drive.

I have an issue with that is Linux related. I may try enough things that I find the answer in the next week or so. If you are really a Linux command knowledgeable. then maybe I could explain what I am up to. ??

If those usb are compromised, then the only place for them is the bin.
You should not be using them for recovery or forensics, or any “stuff”,
but you know this already.

You can boot tails from an iso image easily enough. Just store the iso
on your system and boot the qube using qvm-start QUBES --cdrom=QUBE_WHERE_ISO_FOUND:PATH_TO_ISO

I never presume to speak for the Qubes team. When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.

Compromised is relative, if i run forensics on a compromised computer there is bo guarantee that the usb will be infected but must be treated as such. However compromised or not there is important data that needs to be examined and qubes would be perfect for that.

Sure, i could understand i only have one rule never touch dom0 to make any modifications or changes. If your solution requires that i cant go this route.

I have a method, a recipe to install EasyOS (one of the Puppy Linux distros) into a Qube. My first attempts to use the same recipe for installing Tails OS were not successful.

Today I will, use up time, to write up my recipe for installing EasyOS. Attempts on installing Tails will have to wait until later in the week.

Edit: As of reboot of easyso, it is not so cooperative. has trouble establishing internet connection. If the person who is attempting install of easyos is not doing it to trouble shoot problems, dont bother.
