There are several ways to install in AppVM: Community-built AppImage. Copy it somewhere in your home folder, chmod -x and run it from there. Flatpak. In the template, install flatpak. In the AppVM, do flatpak install --user flathub com.discordapp.Discord. The --user causes flatpak to install into the home folder, so should persist after shutdown.
