Hello,
I am relatively new and am struggling with VT-d issues - I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 500S-14ISK with an Intel i5-6200U processor, which supports both VT-x and VT-d, but no matter what I try, it doesn’t seem like VT-d can be enabled, and the Qubes installer gives the error of no VT-D/IOMMU/etc. I originally ran Windows 10 but then replaced it with Qubes 4.2.3 (without VT-d, somehow) just to see what would happen.
The BIOS (updated to latest version) only offers the option of “Intel Virtualization Technology” with no advanced tab for other virtualization settings. I’ve tried using UEFITool to bypass the BIOS and enable VT-d through an EFI shell, and enabling IOMMU within the GRUB boot parameters, but none of these options seem to work. In my dmesg logs, I see “[drm] VT-d active for gfx access” and “DMAR: IOMMU enabled”, but I don’t know how relevant these are. Is VT-d just not supported by the BIOS and locked by the manufacturer, and is there a way I’m not aware of to enable it? Thanks in advance!
