I reached the threshold value of 94% within just a few seconds, even though there was still so much free memory.

Now I would like to remove the old file or entry.
Who can tell me how to do this correctly?

Because I have to hand in my doctoral thesis soon.

An safe way to get rid of old revisions is to simply start and then shut down the qube a few times. Each shutdown will delete the oldest revision and create a new one from the most recent data.

You can also specify that no more revisions should be created. For the “private” volume:

qvm-volume config doktorarbeit:private revisions_to_keep 0

Similar for the “root” volume:

qvm-volume config doktorarbeit:root revisions_to_keep 0

If you really need to manually delete a revision, assuming that your VG name is poolhd0 (Is it? I don’t know where the output you pasted came from, maybe it’s showing your LV pool name and the VG name is something different like qubes.) the command would be e.g.

lvremove /dev/poolhd0/vm-doktorarbeit-private-1234567890-back

DO NOT RUN THIS COMMAND if the corresponding file without the -1234567890-back suffix - e.g. vm-doktorarbeit-private - is missing in the directory!
