I installed Proton Mail Bridge on QubesOS 4.3, but now it won’t open.
The software is listed as installed and has been assigned correctly.
Could you describe the exact steps you made to install it? On which Qube and Linux distribution?
TemplateVM
Debian12
anon-whonix-proton
sys-firewall
Is there any further information missing?
If so, how should it be written down here?
When I insert an image here, I am told that it cannot be seen here.
Answer this question put to you -Could you describe the exact steps you
made to install it?
In enough detail for someone else to follow what you did.
NOT “installed Proton Mail Bridge on QubesOS 4.3, but now it won’t open”
BUT “I installed Proton Mail Bridge on QubesOS 4.3, by downloading the
deb file from proton.me. I transferred the deb file to a template and
installed it using apt install. I shut down the template. I can see
the software in the list of installed software in my qube, but I cannot
open it from the menu. No error message is shown but no window appears.”
It is bad practice to use images instead of words - they are not
indexable; they cannot be seen by some users; they save you seconds but
can cost readers minutes; they limit who will comment on your post.
If you must include an image, provide a brief description of the
content - NOT “screenshot of a failed install”, BUT “screenshot
showing a failed install - the error message states…”
I created a Create New Qubes with these specifications.
- Debian-12-xfce-Software created
TemplateVM
sys-firewall (current)
Then I installed this
sudo apt install ./protonmail-bridge_3.10.0-1_amd64.deb
Then I created an
anon-whonix-proton from it
- debian-12-xfce-Software
sys-firewall
All available applications
Then I moved Proton Mail Bridge from left to right.
There is still enough free space on the hard drive.
That can’t be the problem.
===================
Thunderbird is already installed on it and works
-
debian-12-xfce-Software
-
anon-whonix-proton
===================
All updates and upgrades are installed, so that can’t be the problem either.
I open it via the menu. No error message is displayed, but no window appears either.
