I had to install a new SSD...SOLVED

Ok guy’s over the weekend I had SSD go down on me and my “qube” was MIA. So long story short is…
-installed new SSD
-installed new Hadrware (NIC)
-installed qubes OS from USB I built awhile ago got up and basically
(everything is working, new hardware is being seen on this “fresh” install of Qubes OS.
GREAT!!!
Next step
-Full restore last backup 30 days out (dom0,custom built domains & dispvms, HVM’s),…3 hours later after reboot…Blam I’m in and all is good… just have to update/upgrade basically everything…ok
Had to reapply USB stuff (keyboard, mouse) way that didn’t come over I don’t know…set dom0 dark mode back and a few other things.

Now I have a few questions if someone can be so kind??

1.) For some reason after I restored dom0 I lost the new hardware I installed but was seen on the fresh USB install of Qubes OS…ie NIC.
So is there anyway to have dom0 “re-scan” and add this new NIC to this restore so I can use it?

2.) I see the “home-restore-date” folder in my home directory…
I move what I needed to…
Can I just "delete this folder now that I have what I need from it?

3.) I know that Sven helped me a ton a while back as I was having the hole “dom0 unrestricted USB device access” and it’s coming up again while my Qube boots. I will have to look through my post and reread the commands he had me enter. Also I have my USB keyboard working now at login BUT the USB mouse still isn’t working at login screenand I have to use my PS/2. But again Sven guided me along to fix that so I will look through my post to refresh my memory…

Any help would be great guy"s…

Do you want to add this NIC to your sys-net? What do you mean by losing it? Do you not see it in Devices tab in sys-net Qubes Settings?

Yeah, if you’re sure you don’t need any of that in that directory anymore, it’s fine to delete it.

@ adw, yes I have copied over all that I need from that “home-restore-date” folder in my home directory…
SO I will just deleted it. I like to run a “tight” ship in my qube…

@disp6252… well this new NIC does not show up in my “sys-net” Network Connections. You know I right click the NetworkManager Applet up there on the right where all the other dom0 icons live and this new NIC doesn’t show up. I go into “sys-net” devices and NO it is not there in my “sys-net” and I found it’s pci address by comparing another domains settings and looking at Available devices…

So, how do I add this to my “sys-net”?

Should I stop “sys-net” and then add it to it and then it will show up in my NetworkManager Applet…

OR
Do I have to do some cmd"s in dom0 to add it to sys-net…

I was able to address my USB mouse issue and “dom0 unrestricted USB device access” by reviewing my old post and looking at the notes I took as Sven was teaching me on how to fix these issues.

Hopefully I now can get this other NIC up and running in my dom0 and NetworkManager Applet…
THank you both for your time and understanding as well as help…

You need to add your NIC from Available devices to Devices allways connected column in sys-net Qube Settings → Devices tab and then restart sys-net.

@disp6252
that worked and thank you as well…

All issues resolved!
