What I means is you downloaded fedora-41-xfce and in appVM changed template from fedora-40 to fedora-41-xfce (or from fedora-40-xfce to fedora-41)?
fedora-41 and fedora-41-xfce are different version that have different applications inside so exchanging template in appVM can result with missing application.
fedora-41 have Gnome Desktop Environment with gnome-terminal for terminal emulation, Nautilius for file manager, Gnome TextEditor for simple notepad and so on (btw. this template have gtk-update-viewer missing, but since fedora-41 it’s 
dead now, nobody will fix it - just remove it from menu shortcuts, from right pane).
fedora-41-xfce have XFCE4 Desktop Environment with xfce-terminal for terminal emulation, Thunar for file manager, Mousepad for simplae notepad and so on.
If you make multimediaVM on fedora-41 template, add some apps from left pane to the right making menu shortcuts, then download fedora-41-xfce and switch template in multimediaVM to fedora-41-xfce, every Desktop Environment app will be missing and not working.
Same if you switch fedora to debian or vice versa.
Only third party external apps, like Firefox or Thunderbird will stay and work, because they are not a part of Desktop Environment app suite.
