How to use microphone with Bluetooth headphones

So I’ve set up an audio qube that works with my Bluetooth headphones (can play music via YouTube in Firefox browser and hear it).

However, I can’t use the microphone. I attached the dom0 microphone to the qube in question and when I open Google Meet to test the sound, it doesn’t show that any sound is coming from the microphone even though the browser.

Note: I suspect as part of trying to configure an audio qube, my microphone doesn’t seem to work even when it is unplugged i.e. just using the microphone once it is attached to the qube doesn’t seem to produce sound (the sound indicator in Google Meet doesn’t change but I can hear sound from a meeting participant) but for now, I am happy to ignore that if I can get the microphone to work with my headphones.

Check if microphone is working in the audio qube itself, e.g. try to record the microphone input there.
You can also open Volume Control in your audio qube using pavucontrol command and check the Input Devices and Recording tabs.

Not sure why, but the only sound that comes through the microphone is a video I’m playing on YouTube. When I get another person to join the Google Meet call I’m using to test, I can only hear the video’s sound (the video is playing in another tab)

I’ve attached what I see in the Input Devices and Recording tabs

It seems that microphone is not detected for some reason.
Check the Volume Control → Configuration tab and try to switch the profile if there are multiple options.

Will try and report back

Any news on this?

Tried to switch the profiles around. Didn’t see any changes.

I’m going to try and use wired headphones to see if I can get the microphone sound that way.

Check the blueman, maybe there are different connection modes for your headphones and your current mode is only exposing headphones without microphone.

I think this suggestion worked.

I’ll update my post once I’ve tried this out in a meeting but it looks like the sound is coming through for me in the “test environment”

Edit: works in Google Meet. Thank you :raised_hands:
