How to install and use Qubes4.2.3 on USB memory

Hello everyone !
I would like to install Cubes for security purposes, but I am having trouble installing it. I tried installing on a USB memory, and there are two USBs I tried, one with 4.2.3 and the other with 4.1.1. The version I want to install is 4.2.3.

① Questions about basic methods
Attach an adapter with multiple USB ports. , I have installed the Cubes ISO file that was made boot-only using balenaEther. I thought I could install to the USB with just one USB dedicated to booting, but that doesn’t work for the reasons I’ll explain later. Should I insert a new USB into another free port and install Cubes on that USB? Also, if the newly inserted USB is a blank, formatted USB with sufficient storage capacity, is there no need for any special treatment?

② Problems with Qubes 4.2.3
When installing Qubes 4.2.3 using USB storage, the message “an error occurred while activating your storage configuration.” is displayed at the “installation progress” stage, followed by “device is active” and “an unknown has occurred.” How should I deal with this bug? Also, if this bug exists and I install it in a blank USB using installation method ①, will it install correctly?

If it is not possible to install to USB, I am thinking of installing directly to the computer, but in that case there are two storage options: sda, which has 931 gib, and nvme0n1, which has 238 gib. Is it more appropriate to include it?

・Additional information to this issue
For 4.2.3 USB, on the menu screen From “installation source”, the “auto-detected installation media” field is “device sdb”. label LABEL=QUBES R4-2-3-x86-64", and when you press the verify button next to it, the message “this media is not good to install from.” is displayed. For 4.1.1, this kind of display does not have anything written on the label, but instead displays “this media is good to install from.” Also, for 4.2.3, when you return to the menu after opening installation source, an error message appears on “installation source”, and then when you enter the installation storage screen, USB storage that was not displayed until now appears. . After that, when I returned to the menu screen again, the installation source error was resolved, and the USB storage disappeared on the installation storage screen (I did this many times, but this happens every time). By the way, both USBs are balenaEther and are dedicated to booting, but the 4.1.1 one doesn’t seem to be recognized by the PC from the beginning, but the 4.2.3 one can’t see the contents, but you can use this USB. I think you are aware of it because it says that a format is required for .

Sorry for the long post, I would be happy to receive your reply. :grinning: :grinning:
