I installed SimpleX Chat flatpak app in app qube’s User directory, based on Whonix WS. SimpleX has advanced network settings that I don’t quite understand and not quite sure which of them better for using in Qubes. I tried AI’s help but it can’t provide helpful information. Not surprising, because even SimpleX Chat’s site has manuals only for mobile versions and even so there are no explanations of what mean the settings that I want to ask about. More specifically, I’d like to ask about these two settings:
-
What is “private routing” and which option I should choose in relation to Qubes? As I understand this option is intended to hide my IP address by using special SimpleX server. Does it matter which option I choose if I’m using it in Whonix based qube with sys-whonix netvm? Can it effect something else except IP address visibility?
-
“Allow downgrade”. This option is connected in meaning with the previous one. It says about some “direct message sending”. Whether I prefer send them directly when my or destination server does not support “private routing” or send them directly with these conditions, provided that IP is also “protected” or not to send direct messages at all. Is it about IP hiding again? Whether I want to send messages only in cases when IP can be hidden or send them always, regardless of whether it is hidden or not? I don’t quite understand the meaning of this parameter. Anyway, from what I know about how Whonix with Qubes work, my IP address will be hidden in any case, no matter what option I choose in these settings, correct?
The rest of the settings in the section, as I understand it, are better left as they are, right?
