I plugged my phone into my laptop to try to update the former through a dedicated application, but the application doesnt have USB port access. Previously, i have been able to access the folders in USBs and SSDs through the file manager of this qube, but i can’t access the phone even though it’s attached to the qube and i see its name under files. i’m not sure if the problem is on the phone’s end. how can i give this application USB port access?
Hi @anon40477182, welcome here!
Could you provide detail on how exactly you attach the phone to the qube? When using the devices widget, you can use block storage devices and USB devices. See:
What kind of phone are you using? I know that android is not always straightforward to use.
What is the difference between the previous and the current state of the qube, is there any change?
Hi @parulin, thanks for your response! i use a de-googled android phone with a usb-c cable. i used the GUI tool to attach the phone to the qube, and the only difference in the state of the qube was the name of the phone appearing in the file manager. when i click it, it says "Unable to open MTP device “001,002”. i tried listing USB devices with qvm-device and saw the phone listed there.
my phone has an option to switch between itself and the connected device for USB, but every time i pick the latter it switches back to itself. i also get the notification that the device has been removed but is available again and end up having to re-attach it to the qube.
i don’t know if giving the dedicated software port access would do anything for this issue? it really might be the phone’s issue
I think it has something to do with android. Take at look at the is guide:
I tried attaching the phone to sys-usb and was able to move a music file there. i forgot that sys-usb is not persistent storage though, so i copied the software appimage over there. i still couldn’t figure out how to give the software port access to update the phone though
Which port?
The software doesn’t specify anything other than “USB port(s)” but I haven’t figured out where to go from there
