Every day I open three(3) external hard disk drives at the same time, so that I can commence work using the data on all three(3) of those hard disk drives.
I open the Menu->Go->Computer listing in Caja, and press the left mouse button to select the first hard disk drive, and a dialogue window opens for me to type the password, which I do.
Then, as soon as the password is entered, I quickly press the button to select the next hard disk drive, and another dialogue window appears for me to type the password for the next hard disk drive.
However, after entering the second password, the Caja file manager has already decided to remove the Computer listing for the three(3) hard disk drives, and display the root directory of the first selected hard disk drive! I have to wait and wait and wait some more then, for Caja to get around to displaying the contents of the root directory of the second selected hard disk drive, and then use the mouse to select Menu->Go->Computer again, where I already was before Caja decided to change the display in the listing without being asked to, and then press the mouse button again to select the third hard disk drive, and then type the password into the third dialogue window, and it’s not just needlessly time consuming, but it begs the question, every single farkin’ day, “What progress has technology made in the twenty-first century?”
It doesn’t get any better. I don’t get used to it, It just gets more and more frustrating having to suffer the torment of such an annoying feature when it is more of a stupid rotten bug in my daily routine.
It is almost time to put those new years’ resolutions into operation, and besides the mouse-wheel / desktop disaster about which I have already written a new thread asking for direction on, I would really like to be able to begin 2026 with my operating system configured so that Caja stops trying to display the root directory of newly-opened hard disk drives when it hasn’t been asked to.
Where in all the various configuration utilities is the part where The User can tell Caja to stop displaying the root directories of newly opened hard disk drives but to just sit still and do nothing until it is told to, thank you?
