Help! I cannot install Qubes OS!

I booted Qubes OS v4.2.4 from a USB that I created using Rufus with the dd writing method.

I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad P14s with an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 8840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics (3.30 GHz). I have 64.0 GB of RAM and an x64-based processor.

Here is the error I get:

Depending on how desperate you are, here is a lazy LLM answer in case it might help you forward which it might not.

From what I’m getting at, I should try out the testing release?

Sure, try 4.3RC4. it has newer support for newer computers

I have a Ryzen and eliminating unnecessary bios settings (for my usage) helped make install stable. For example, I turned off wifi in bios

Thanks, this worked; I can now access the installer.

One more issue though: how do I set up a partition to install Qubes OS to?

Are you dual booting ?

If not, just wipe the drive, refresh and let anaconda delete and start fresh

To clarify, during the time I asked the question and your response, I simply shrinked another volume and the installer automatically created a partition out of the unallocated space, so that issue is resolved.

But the information you gave on dual booting concerns me since I am dual booting Qubes and Windows 11 (encrypted via VeraCrypt, though I don’t think that makes any difference).

Now that I’ve already installed Qubes and am dual-booting, what should I do to maximize security?

I’m fine with uninstalling Windows 11 completely, although I’d prefer to do that somewhat later.

Delete windows

If I delete Windows, should I go through the process of installing Qubes again, or is there really no tangible difference?

Also, what’s the most secure way to actually get rid of Windows from my system, and would getting rid of Windows from my system also get rid of the product key that came alongside my laptop?
