Remarks
Not sure whether I am supposed to submit an HCL this early. I have only been using it for a few days.
Wifi etc. works OK - haven’t tried the camera. I haven’t yet managed to get suspend and wake up working.
I love the idea of Qubes, but haven’t yet got streaming to work well for me. I am aware that I might not be able to. (I haven’t tried everything suggested yet, but will try to work through the suggestions already posted)
I am wondering whether a better solution for me might be to use Qubes normally, for everyday stuff like banking/ shopping, and load a live distro to watch online.
Anyway, wish me luck! P

Remarks
- I Had to disable secure boot and Intel VMD (Volume Management Device) in BIOS/UEFI to install Qubes.
- Screenpad (second screen) works out of the box as extra display.
- keyboard works out of the box
- touchpad works out of the box
- touchscreen and screenpad registers touches but is off. Cursor moves 3-5cm below where you touch. Haven’t found an easy way to fix.
- pinch zoom doesn’t work on touchpad or touchscreen/screenpad
- reversing scroll direction needs to be done on “Touchpad” device in “Mouse and Touchpad”. Maybe other devices here might be able to fix touchscreen.
- sound/audio works out of the box
- aux jack works with wired headphones out of the box
- Fn+Esc doesn’t lock the Fn key, so volume has to be toggled with Fn+F1/F2/F3
- Fn+F4/F5 works to toggle brightness for primary display.
- Secondary display (screenpad) can be turned off via Display Settings.
- Battery no worse than my previous Fedora installation.
- USB thumbdrives work
- sd cards works
- gestures don’t seem to work. Neither does pinching touchscreen for zoom
- keyboard backlit key doesn’t work out of the box and keyboard is not backlit by default which sucks when the room you’re in is dark.
- Camera works out of the box
- Mic works but had to “Set as fallback” in “Volume Control” in Dom0
- Signal video calls work
- External displays work out of the box (HDMI)
- Suspend works out of the box (or at least is far better at saving battery power than my previous Fedora installation)
Overall very good impression of compatibility with this laptop given it’s a bit of an odd-ball with the Screenpad. It’s only been a few days so far but I haven’t encountered anything that would be a deal breaker in regards to using this as a daily driver, so it seems quite promising.

USB Mouse works out of the box. Just had to plug it in and I got the popup asking to allow it to be used with dom0. I approved and it just worked. Nothing else needed to be done.
Honestly I must say I am quite impressed with how well Qubes works overall, but maybe I just got lucky with this specific laptop. I see others with Lenovos and Frameworks aren’t so lucky.

Webcam keeps dropping off after a couple minutes. Have to restart sys-usb to get it working again, but it just ends up dropping off again.
Ethernet works.
USB keyboard works.
I wiped QubesOS off this machine and installed Fedora 43 Workstation. It’s only now I see the performance hit of running Qubes.
Elsewhere in on forum I saw people say the virtualisation only brings a ~5% slowdown in performance, but my current Fedora install is so blazingly fast I see now it’s closer to 50%.
Maybe it’s just this machine, or a misconfiguration in my install, but out of the box Qubes is noticeably slower on the Zenbook Duo
UPDATE:
I used the v2 qubes builder to build a custom linux kernel but with
"CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI=y" and "CONFIG_HOTPLUG_PCI_ACPI=y"
This fixed the Fn key as well as the keyboard backlight and several other Fn keys like Prt Sc.
The /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_control_end_threshold is also there now so a battery charging threshold can be set.
Unfortunately however it seem like this broke the microphone.
