Tried searching, I can’t figure out where the mistakes are. Where exactly am I editing grub?
I am trying to edit grub as per instructions that I see
I have been trying to get Qubes installed on a ThinkPad T16 Gen 1 with AMD CPU for a while. The latest try with Qubes 4.2.0-rc4 was relatively successful, however ACPI needs to be disabled and the onboard keyboard and touchpad do not work. This seems similar to the issues reported at My adventures with Qubes 4.1.1 on a Lenovo T14 Gen 3 - #21 by Scumbag
hcl-report output:
Qubes release 4.2.0-rc4
Brand: LENOVO
Model: 21CHCTO1WW
BIOS: R23ET70W (1.40 )
Xen: 4.17.2
Kernel: 6…
I cannot figure out for the life of me how to edit the grub menu.
I was told to follow this - Autostart troubleshooting — Qubes OS Documentation
I only see these options below
multiboot2 /images/pxeboot/xen.gz console=none
module2 /images/pxeboot/vmlinuz inst.repo=hd:LABEL=QUBES-R4-2-4-X86-64 plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles quiet
module2 /images/pxeboot/initrd.img
In the grub menu, add the following kernel parameters: module_blacklist=ucsi_acpi,amdgpu
I tried adding that line to the bottom, it does not work.
So where exactly should I be editing grub because I’m not getting results.
Add the kernel command line options at the end of this line:
module2 /images/pxeboot/vmlinuz inst.repo=hd:LABEL=QUBES-R4-2-4-X86-64 plymouth.ignore-serial-consoles quiet
Hi @jasonnotbourne and welcome here!
Just as a general context note, your question is not related to Qubes OS but to the GRUB boot loader , this is another piece of software, quite common is other OS, so next time you can search for GRUB, and the instructions should also work for Qubes OS (and you will get more results I think).
When using command line tools, each detail matters. So the end of the line is not the end of the file
