Enabling Full-Disk Encryption after install

Good morning everyone,

I did not opt in for full-disk encryption when installing Qubes OS. I’d like to activate it now, but I do not know how. Is there any way I can encrypt the disk internally? Should I use a 3rd party software?

Also, would I need to encrypt all of the VMs?

Hi @haroldfinch, I do not think this is possible. At least easily.

My suggestions would be for you to backup all your qubes onto an external hard drive, reinstall the system with full disk encryption and then restoring those qubes. Qubes OS does this process relatively painless (but may take some hours for the full backup to complete, depending on how many qubes you have and their relative size).
