I’m almost certain I came across a salt formula for a “downloader” AppVM - with tools for a bunch of different protocol handlers (https://, http://, ftp:// and a bunch of others - maybe some p2p protocols)
I don’t recall the details of how it was implemented, though I assume it was mainly curl and some glue for a convenient workflow
I don’t have any issues now downloading files, by copying/pasting links, but I’m curious what that solution used for the glue and how it may have improved security or usability
It would be nice to have all downloads go to a single AppVM to be archived and maybe even scanned or analyzed. However, I can’t say that I trust ClamAV enough to perform such a task in anything other than a disposable
Anyone know what I’m talking about? Did I imagine this?
