Dom0-terminal opens automatically after startup

This may not be the biggest and most serious of all problems, but… since I reinstalled QubesOS a few days ago, a dom0 terminal opens after every start after logging into the operating system user. Why is that? This wasn’t the case before the reinstallation and I can’t find the toggle switch to turn it off. If anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful for suggestions, unfortunately I couldn’t find anything in the forum either.

Go to “Session and Startup” menu in the qubes menu and remove the xfce4-terminal from auto-starting.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I apologize for the delayed response; I have been traveling for an extended period. Unfortunately, even after a second and third look, I was unable to locate the terminal in the list of automatically launched applications. As mentioned, this is not the most pressing of issues. However, if anyone else has any ideas, I would be very interested to hear them. Thank you in advance.

Session and Startup → Saved Sessions → Clear Saved Sessions.

No matter what I tried, nothing changed: After logging in, a dom0 terminal would start up. This went on for months. Since yesterday, it’s gone. I didn’t do any updates and had long since resigned myself to the unsolicited window. Now the problem has solved itself.

A friend recently said that we live in a world where IT is so complex that it feels as if it is no longer deterministic.

The IT Crowd was right: I should have just restarted it often enough. Eventually, it goes away on its own

Thanks anyway to @kenosen and @MellowPoison for the answers!

EDIT: My comment is not relevant
FWIW, I’ve noticed that dom0 terminals that are open when I log out are still there when I log back in. So you should be able to test this by opening one, logging out, and then rebooting. And you can make it disappear by closing it, logging out, and then rebooting.

It’s a standard XFCE feature. You can disable it in Q → Gear icon → System Settings → Session and Startup → General → uncheck “Automatically save session on logout” and remove the old sessions in Saved Sessions → Clear Saved Sessions.

On my laptop that box was already unchecked (and the dom0 terminal was present/absent anyway).

When you press on the Log Out, is the “Save session for future logins” unchecked in the Log out window?

Oh you’re right, that one is checked, so no mysteries or ghosts involved now!
Thank you!
