Dell G15 5530

Remarks

Changed from RAID to AHCI in SETUP. RAID was making everything take literal hours, formatting process was taking literal days. Lots of timeouts in IO on the disks, systemd-udev-settle.service was not loading at all.

LVM was not working. When attempting automatic partitioning or trying LVM on the custom partitioning, I would get the message "resource to create this format lvmpv is unavailable. I used BTRFS which I am more familiar with anyway.

Secure boot enabled.

Update: I reinstalled Qubes and LVM was working properly (the default automatic partitioning).

I was wrong about secure boot, it was turned off and it only works without it.

Changing display to non hybrid mode on SETUP rendered the screen black after booting. I’ll keep trying to figure out how to properly configure both the intel and the nvidia cards.

Dell UEFI/BIOS SETUP are always weird in my experience. I loaded default settings for SETUP because I was having trouble booting, and I really don’t know what changed because I checked everything and I had the same config as before. I think they try hard to ensure there will be opaque recovery options and intrusive ways for remote support or something.
