Cross Distro Solution to Launch Apps From Terminal?

I have a script launching apps.

I’m using gtk-launch in the script.

The problem is this only works with debian qubes.

Is there a command that would launch apps and work accross all distros?

I remember once used dex in place of gtk-launch.
