Did this thread ever result in any finished guide? Seems like after 80 or so comments it’s lost momentum (unless I’ve missed it in the replies).
You’re right. Sadly it lost momentum.
That’s a shame. I’ve been looking for better quality documentation on Qubes OS than seems to be available.
I’ll pursue some of my own efforts on that front, then.
Speaking of my own efforts, what’s the best way forward for me to propose a raft of changes to Qubes OS documentation?
Continue this thread in the forum? Create a new thread in the forum? Discuss it with the Qubes Team directly on qubes-issues?
The instructions can be found here: How to edit the documentation | Qubes OS
The best way would be for you to propose a PR on GitHub in qubes-doc
for documentation, or qubesos.github.io.git
for the website.
There is a guide here
If you dont like GitHub, you can PM or email me, or solene, with
proposals and we will proxy them to GitHub for you.
If you want to discuss changes before posting a PR do whatever suits you
best - email, Forum, PM, draft PR in qubes-doc, or in qubes-issues with Tag “C: Doc”.
Thanks for your interest.
I never presume to speak for the Qubes team.
When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.
Thanks for providing clarification @deeplow and @unman, I will raise up a PR or email through a proposal in the next couple weeks (when I can find some free time to dedicate to writing up a proposal).
Yeah a new Qubes contributor! Much smarter and able to me.
Sad last post Jan 2023. What do these
see that make them abandon qubes?
If was taking a University level Chemistry class. I would have a lecture class, and a class doing experiments. Very simple things. learn to measure. Titrate. Make hydrogen gas.
A work book to take a newcomer down a path, one step at a time. In my opinion, each note of do this, also tells the new user where on the screen to look for that command.
In EasyOS, a lot of command choices come with a little note with the options, if you are not sure, “Do this option” or this option is usually the correct choice.
Options in work book should also indicate levels of Security gained, lost by each option. similiarly gain of privacy, Anonymiity.
Indicate path for those whose need is immediate -mission critical- choice.
All that indicates that this work book is in a Wiki, to allow clicks to show those levels of further information.
Information provided should indicate Qubes OS used in example, and date the bit of information was provided, and last verified.
Actually @unman might be best if email through a proposal rather than PR - is there a preferred email address I can send through to? If it’s a personal one, please feel free to PM me with the address.

I did send through an email with the proposed changes @unman, did you receive it?
I think not. Can you resend please.
