Change templates to Xfce version in-place

I just noticed that there are Xfce versions of Debian and Fedora templates available.

I strongly prefer Xfce over Gnome and I have upgraded my Gnome templates in-place before so that I can keep my installed applications.

But is it feasible to conveniently switch to the Xfce “version” in-place? Or should I just install the Xfce templates as new, and then install the needed applications?

The xfce Versions are versions with less (or nothing) of gnome parts in them. So if you don’t have any tools or programs which needs gnome stuff, then you can switch over to the xfce variants. Those are now lightweighter than the old versions.

I can’t say, how long QubesOS staff will provide us “both” variants (xfce and gnome templates) in the future, but I decited to use them both as long, as they are available…
For my daily use I often have fedora-xx-xfce or debian-xx-xfce in use (work, personal, etc.), but for some reason my vault qube always is using a fedora-xx template and the untrusted is coming from a debian-xx template.
I also never done in-place-updates, cause I store my own stuff in the personal qube (or on my NAS) and always updating the templates with my needed/daily software-packets first (before first time using).
The original downloaded templates will remain as template-original (copy) on the system.
