I’ve got a new laptop, an MSI prestige 14 AI Evo. It came with Windows and I tried to install qubes but the installer gets stuck. Googling says VMD is to blame but I can’t disable it in the bios. I’ve updated the bios, removed the nvme drive but the bios option is there but always set to enabled and not changeable.
So is there any way to install qubes with VMD?
I’ve put Ubuntu on and it works but I would rather use qubes.
Since your Ubuntu installation works, it feels like Qubes should at least install. I don’t think it does anything unusual during installation. How does it get stuck? Maybe you should try installing fedora to see what happens with a different distro and the same installer. It also should be mentioned that qubes installation can be very slow. Are you sure that it’s stuck and not just slow?
