Cant boot Qubes after dom0 update - Warning USB in dom0 is not restricted

Hi

After an update of dom0, booting in to my newer laptop causes me to get stuck at a black screen and the error appears:

Warning: USB in dom0 is not restricted. Consider rd.qubes.hide_all_usb or usbcore.authorized_default =0

It worked fine up until this latest update.

Fortunately my older laptop of similar architecture and thankfully it just about works - even though the same error comes up, it does come up to a somewhat broken screen where I can enter the password and access Qubes.

Any idea on how to fix this? Worked fine before dom0 update.

Bump, anyone have any help please!?

You haven’t provided much useful information.

What’s happening when using rd.qubes.hide_all_usb or the other option?

And what about the other “USB in dom0 is not restricted” topics here, nothing is working?

Hi,

Perhaps I was being a bit ignorant. Are these commands to add to startup or something?

Thank you

@ChrisA already explained it in the linked topic.

What about the many other “USB in dom0 is not restricted” topic in this forum? Nothing works?

Have you tried booting into the previous kernel at startup ? (Grub options)

Better yet, can you tell us something about your hardware and/or GRUB config?

These things usually happen when kernels get upgraded from kernel that used to require workarounds, to ones that no longer need them.

Unfortunately, without any more information specific to your circumstances (hardware setup, kernel version, GRUB config, etc.), we can’t really give you the “magic bullet” to fix this, as much as we’d like to…
