So during the first-time-setup after rebooting from the initial install, I’ve deselected the Whonix options - my threat model does not include needing to worry about being on a hostile network.
Yet it appears to go and install/setup the Whonix templates anyways. Is this behavior incorrect, or am I misunderstanding the options?
if you didn’t select whonix, it’s not installed, you should not have any whonix qubes (in templates, service or appvm)
And yet I have TemplateVMs for whonix-gateway-17 and whonix-workstation-17.
The configuration may be incomplete, because causing an update check for these VMs causes massive “Denied: qubes.UpdatesProxy” message spam.
edit: Disregard, I’m an idiot. I left the Whonix 17 Templates checked, so the Templates were installed as expected, but I only unchecked the “Create Whoix Gateway and Workstation qubes” option, meaning those qubes were not created, which is the behavior that I’m seeing.
