hello i was dealing with super slowness after making XML file and passing SVM and hap (hardware assisted paging ), even windows explore and browser take like 5 seconds for each operation … disabled svm and hap and it got fixed
interstengly the slowness was coming from disk although my disk is pcie-4 nvme with 7gb/s read and 5gb/s write on bare metal windows
also nested hvm on windows does’t work at all, it shows enabled but if you run vm in vmware/virtualbox or hyper-v , windows will do BSOD or freeze , will need to restart, if you enable hyper-v it will load at boot time and you wont be able to login to windows at all to disable it
my cpu is amd ryzen 7 3900x, i dont know weather it works properly for windows or not
Nested virtualization is not supported, the option is intentionally disabled. See No virtualization is available in a HVM qube · Issue #4104 · QubesOS/qubes-issues · GitHub for more details. Properly supporting it requires quite a lot of work on Xen side first, it isn’t simple config change.
got it thank you
a relatively off topic question i ll be happy some one answers:
i just needed nested visualization to run ARC loader , which is loader for virtual sinology nas , i tried installing it as a hvm qube
i was able to run the installer image by dd ing it directly to lvm partition of my new qube
but after installation i lose access to it after power on , since it doesn’t give gui and it’s meant to be managed by web browser but the problem is in qubes there is no DHCP server, even when using my own net vm and installing DHCP server in it , DHCP requests are somehow blocked in qubes and answer from server is lost
if it worked i dont need nested vm
do you know any solution to resolve the DHCP problem ?
