Barcode / QR Handheld Scanner support

hi qubes folk.

I’ve picked up a handheld QR / Barcode scanner I’d like to use in a specific qube. I have put the scanner into ‘keyboard’ mode however output from QR codes is not making it to the Qube. I assume this is to do with USB keyboard permissions.

I already have a USB keyboard and mouse setup to use with the system. (Purism mini v2; 1 controller)

What do I need to do to make the output readable on a qube?

Attach the whole device to the qube instead.
