I installed:
sudo apt install openvpn and sudo apt install network-manager-openvpn on the debian-13-xfce template.
I created an appVM in Qubes based on that template.
If I start the appVM the network works normally, but to add a VPN I need Network Manager running.
So in the appVM settings I go to Services and add Network Manager. Then I can access OpenVPN via nm-connection-editor.
However, it doesn’t connect to the Internet! If I remove Network Manager from Services in the appVM settings, networking works.
I also tried enabling Network Manager in the debian-13-xfce template via Services settings, and left it enabled in the appVM as well, but still nothing works.
Sometimes the Internet connects, but most of the time it does not. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I tried this with the kicksecure template and the appVMs showed the same result!
I haven’t tried appVMs from Fedora yet, but it should work with Debian and Kicksecure (which is Debian).
Please help urgently!
What is this qube connected to?
What is the network path in Qubes?
Have you changed the nameservers in the qube?
When it does connect are you using the same targets as when it does not?
I never presume to speak for the Qubes team.
When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.
