Btw ipv4.dhcp-client-id=mac is only supported for Ethernet devices according to the doc.
The documentation is old. You can verify this by setting ipv4.dhcp-client-id to perm-mac and then back to mac.
It makes no sense to rely on an undocumented default when the value can be set explicitly, so my final recommendation is to set ipv4.dhcp-client-id=mac.
