A couple of newby issues with keyboard and fonts

I very recently installed Qubes 4.2.3 and have it running, but I need some help with the proper way to tweak it to my personal preferences.

  1. I would like to exchange the CapsLock and Control key locations as I have had the Control key to the left of the Englis ‘A’ key for decades. Normally, I add the XkbOption value of “ctrl:swapcaps” to the /etc/default/keyboard file. I’ve done this to the debian-12 template that I use for my personal app, but it does not seem to take effect, even though I’ve restarted/rebooted. The keyboard file does not appear in the dom0 /etc/default directory. And yes, I’ve checked to insure I’m running debian-12 in my personal VM.

  2. I would like to add several fonts to Xfce. Should I add them to the dom0 or application templates, or both? I would like the fonts to be used across the GUI, not just in some apps.

Thanks in advance.

You can use localectl in dom0 to set the XkbOption.

Do it in templates.
