2 issues w qubes currently, need fixes

  1. After a few times using kleopatra notepad in fedora vault to decrypt different messages in same notepad kleopatra keeps crashing

  2. How do you move downloads from Tor browser to another qube? When I hit show in folder it keeps not bringing up the files I’ve downloaded. I know you can look it up thru file manager eg. ( .TB/x/x/x)

But an easier gui option would be nice. Also since I can’t find the post someone else made about that like I did before I also don’t know how to find thru typing in search area of file manager.

Thx for any and all help. Always appreciated as a beginner with qubes and Linux

  1. Not sure what you would need here? Downloaded files are effectively here:

/home/user/.tb/tor-browser/Browser/Downloads

You can also click on the download icon in Tor browser (upper right) and open that folder directly from there.

I hope this help you.

  1. have you tried to use the decryption tool in another VM (or at least in Vault based on a different template [Debian])? Still crashing?
  2. because it’s (like Qubicon mentioned) in anon-whonix qubes, I always move downloaded files from that …/.tb/tor-browser/Browser/Downloads directory to other qubes directly (personal, work, etc) with right click and “move to other qube” in file manager

I think opening the download folder from within the Tor Browser stopped working in the new Whonix 18 release and the move to LXQt and PCManFM-Qt. You will probably have to open the folder manually for now.

Issue is you can’t open those downloaded files in file manager with the “open in folder” button once you download something off Tor. You can’t to my knowledge

I will have to use the manual lookup for now and transfer to another qube from there if needed

Can’t get there as easy and another user commented how to manually look it up. I bookmarked it for later!

I have no idea btw on how to download my keys onto new kleopatra? I just back up my qubes in case any issues

You can use the qvm-copy utility to send files between qubes.

Just be careful and make sure to follow the general idea of, don’t send sensitive data from a less trusted qube to a more trusted one.
